Mober DC Speed Control for Linn LP12 Turntable

$1,399.00

The Mober uses a Swiss-made Maxon DC motor. The appeal of DC over AC motor is noise. Generally DC motors are much quieter than AC motors ; the challenge here is keeping DC motor running at a constant speed, since DC motors are very sensitive to slight changes supplied voltage. Mober’s tachometer reads 16 point markers to keep the speed constant so you can enjoy your favourite music without fluctuation of speed!

Mober DC Speed Control

Mober DC Speed Control is similar without being identical to Linn Radikal DC Power System. The Mober uses a Swiss-made Maxon DC motor. According to Edmund the appeal of DC over AC motor is noise. Generally DC motors are much quieter than AC motors ; the challenge here is keeping DC motor running at a constant speed, since DC motors are very sensitive to slight changes supplied voltage.

Included is an optical tachometer to be attached to the top plate which monitors the movement of 16 point markers placed to the underside of the outer platter, and feeds this information back to a control box which responds with changes in voltage to the motor based on the current speed, compensating when deviations are detected.  According to Edmund, the idea behind 16 markers versus 1 marker (use on Linn Lingo/ Radikal) is it’s respond more quickly to deviations from true speed.

Each Mober DC Speed Control kit includes the following :

Note : This kit installation takes about 3-4 hours. My recommendation is to use a LP12 turntable jig to complete the installation. Suggest to use a turntable technician to do it for you.
